1. Comix Jam By ForYourArt

    November 13-17, 2012

Comix Jam was a 5-day event bringing comic book enthusiasts and artists together to co-produce and collaborate on comics and doodles on the walls of ForYourArt.

Highlighting comics as a vehicle for collaborative and creative interaction, visitors and local artists were invited to contribute to panels by creating or adding to a drawing and mounting it to the wall when finished.

At the end of the project, the pages created by visitors and artists throughout the event, were turned into printed comic books/zines.

Comix Jams took place Wednesday through Friday from 11am-5pm. An opening night party was held on Tuesday, November 13th, featuring a reading library and screenprinting by LA Zine Fest,
a Digital Drawing Installation by David Aguilar of Drawing Party, and
DJ sets from DJ Maimes and DJ Cameron Rath of FMLY. Guests were encouraged bring in tech devices to participate in the Digital Drawing Installation and to draw collaboratively on an oversized piece of paper on one of the walls.

Friday’s event featured live music curated by HOME ROOM
with the musical sounds of
Veterans of Future Wars and Kevin Greenspon as well as
DJ sets from Molly & Michael of KXLU. Saturday’s event was the JT Steiny & A.B.A.W. (A Book A Week) Variety Show
along with Drippy Bone Books’ Keenan Marshall Keller’s Galactic Breakdown.
